The Role of Bioethics in War and the Role of War in Developing Bioethics

This module examines the role bioethics and science should play when confronted or engaging in conflict situations, particularly regarding war. It looks at how bioethics has attempted to influence war, both as a force for peace and as a force for engaging society in war and promoting nationalism. It also discusses how fundamental values, principles, and practices in bioethics have been shaped by responses to war, to military and defense activities, and by military industries. Finally, it looks at the role bioethics has played in the war in Ukraine and the possible impact of the war in Ukraine on bioethics.
