At the Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing in London, Chinese scientists conveyed that regulations in China as strengthened to prevent the incident of “CRISPR babies” experiment from happening again. The “CRIPSPR babies” experiment, conducted by the Chinese scientist He Jiankui, implanted genetically altered embryos and led to the birth of infants from the embryos. The experiment was widely condemned for ethical reasons. Despite the Chinese scientists argue that this is unlikely to happen, other scientists argue that China’s new regulations are insufficient.
