At the 2025 BEI Winter School Online, Jonathan D. Moreno delivered a keynote lecture examining bioethics as a product of the post–World War II rules-based international order. A David and Lyn Silfen University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Moreno holds roles across Medical Ethics and Health Policy, History and Sociology of Science, and Philosophy, and has advised three U.S. presidential commissions. His lecture raises urgent questions about what happens to the ethical frameworks we’ve built as the global order that shaped them begins to fracture. It challenges viewers to consider how bioethics must adapt in an era of shifting alliances and renewed nationalism. Watch the full lecture here.
